Scientists of Belarus and Russia synthesize drug against breast cancer

Oncologists and biochemists from Russian and Belarusian universities have jointly synthesized substances capable of inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. According to the press service of the Togliatti State University (TSU), we are talking about a particularly dangerous and complex pathology - the so-called triple negative cancer, which includes 15-20% of all cases of breast cancer and occurs in younger women, writes TASS.

"Researchers have synthesized substances capable of inhibiting the growth of cells of triple-negative breast cancer - this type of female oncopathology is the most difficult to treat. The study involved specialists from three universities - St. Petersburg, Belarusian and Togliatti State Universities (SPbSU, BSU and TSU), as well as the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Center of Oncology (Moscow)", - noted in the press service.

Thoughtful design made of noble metals

One of the ways out was offered by the team of St. Petersburg State University associate professor Mikhail Kinzhalov with the participation of Belarusian colleagues. There they synthesized new drugs based on platinum and palladium. Scientists acted by means of elaborate design of molecules, which made it possible to create structures of unique spatial complexity, capable of precise interaction with biological targets and having high energy in the body.
