Scientists discover more than 30 fossilized dinosaur footprints in eastern China
Scientists have found more than 30 well-preserved fossilized footprints of six different species of dinosaurs in eastern China, TASS reported, citing the Xinhua News Agency.
By the way, the species belong to the Late Cretaceous period, which started about 100.5 million years ago and ended 66 million years ago.
The find was made in Shanghang County, in southwest Fujian Province, China. The traces are scattered over an area of 15 square meters. It is also worth noting, found in such a large area of well-preserved footprints - a rarity around the world. Footprints belong, in particular, such dinosaur species as sauropods or sauropods, as well as theropods.
Experts note that the find is of great importance in terms of studying the lifestyle and habitat of dinosaurs in the Late Cretaceous, since most fossilized footprints that are found both in China and abroad belong to the Jurassic and Early Cretaceous periods.
