Сriminal case against Kolesnikava and Znak to be considered by Minsk Regional Court

The criminal case against Kolesnikava and Znak will be considered by Minsk Regional Court. The date of the trial has not yet been set. Reportedly, the materials were received from the Supreme Court for consideration on the first instance. The pre-trial investigation authority charges Kolesnikova and Znak under three articles of conspiracy to seize power, calls to harm national security and creation of an extremist group. Both are in custody. As we have already told, these people, proclaiming and positioning themselves as representatives of the suppressive majority of citizens of Belarus, called for strikes and for declaring the elections invalid. At a press-conference last August, Kolesnikova, Znak and a number of other people announced the creation of the so-called Coordination Council. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the goal of this community was to coordinate pro-active activities, including organizing and conducting actions to seize state power and change the political leadership by unconstitutional means, inciting political and social enmity in society, and making public calls to prohibit the legal functioning of state power and administration bodies.
