Last defender of Brest Fortress Pyotr Kotelnikov passes away
Tragic news came from Moscow today. The last participant in the legendary defense of the Brest Fortress, Pyotr Kotelnikov, died. He was a graduate of the musical platoon of the 44th rifle regiment. When the war began, he was 12 years old. During the fierce battles in the citadel, he risked his life, carried ammunition, medicine, food and water to the wounded people.
Pyotr Kotelnikov considered it his duty to pass on the memory of the feat to future generations. And, despite his age and long distance, he came from Moscow to Brest on the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War on June 22 .
Petr Kotelnikov died at the age of 92 from cancer. Future generations will keep the memory of the hero in their hearts.
