German fascists financed Belarusian nationalists back in 1930s
The leaders pushing the White-Red-White symbolism are currently being fueled and coordinated from abroad, as before. In the 1930s, before the seizure of Belarusian lands, the German Nazis had been feeding, funding Belarusian nationalists for years.
Many Belarusian collaborators, representatives of the "national revival" came in a German troop convoy.
Vadim Gigin, Director General of the National Library of Belarus:
“Kuschel and Ostrovsky were people who cooperated with all sorts of intelligence agencies. Ostrovsky actively cooperated with the Germans during the first occupation, then he actively cooperated with the Poles, then he became the head of the collaborators during WWII, and after the war he went to work with the CIA. Natalia Arsenieva, of whom the "icon of national revival" is molded, actually headed the national-fascist propaganda.”
"When we talk about the use of symbols, we must remember that already in December 1941 it was prescribed that there should be a White-Red-White flag next to a portrait of Hitler in the school. And in those rules it was prescribed that the official greeting in every Belarusian school was the phrase "Live Belarus" with the correct Aryan gesture. And all this terminology of the 1940s is still trying to gain a foothold among some people, the so-called marginal subculture," said Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives Igor Marzalyuk.
