Belarus may establish Day of partisans and underground fighters
Belarus may establish a new landmark date - the Day of partisans and underground fighters. This was stated by Chairman of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova in honor of the 80th anniversary of the parade of partisans on the occasion of the liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders. This initiative is ready to discuss on the platform of the Upper House of Parliament in the format of an open discussion, during which the optimal date for this event will be chosen. They will also develop relevant approaches to immortalize the memory of the Belarusian partisans and underground fighters.
Sergei Khomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:
Fighting against the Nazi army, being in the forests and swamps, in the underground, they sacredly honored the memory of the independence of our Motherland. They knew that the punishment for being in the partisans and underground was death. But they stood their ground, did everything to make our country free.
Today, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the parade of Belarusian partisans in Minsk, representatives of the Council of the Republic laid flowers at the monument "Partisan Belarus" to pay tribute to all those who liberated our country from the Nazi invaders.
