Proposals to amend Constitution of Belarus

The preliminary results of the work of the Constitutional Commission on the development of proposals for changing the basic law of the country have been summed up. Thus, it is planned to keep the presidential form of government in Belarus. But the requirements for a candidate for this high post will change. He must be at least 40 years old, not have foreign citizenship, must have lived in the country for at least 20 years before the elections. It was also proposed to clarify the terms of office of the President. So, it is planned that one person can be the head of state for no more than two terms. In the near future, the members of the commission will discuss the amendments to the Constitution with the Head of State. The meeting can take place after August 1.
