Belarus continues development of new draft Constitution
The development of a new draft Constitution continues in Belarus. The Constitutional Commission is examining all amendment proposals very carefully. It is important to retain the points that have been time-tested and proved efficient.
Sergei Sivets, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:I like the current version of the Constitution. And the leading constitutional scholars from foreign countries agree with me. It is well structured. It has a good substantive content. It can be an effective regulator for decades to come. However, a number of factors push us towards a point correction.
Sergei Sivets pointed out that the current Draft Constitution has been tested by time and passed the stress test of last summer's events. A number of factors dictate the changes under consideration.
