Updated law on legal status of foreigners and stateless persons launched in Belarus
Citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates are exempt from mandatory registration for 30 days from the date of entry, and for citizens of Russia this term is 90 days.
Philip Guly, Chairman of the Board of the Republican Union of the Tourism Industry: "Visitsto Belarus can be divided into 4 types. The first one related to business. The second visit is usually a vacation in the natural area, spa complex, recreational areas. The third one is an excursion trip by bus, maybe by car, from 5 to 7 days. And the fourth type is active tourism with boats, kayaks."
The period during which foreigners are required to register in a new location when changing their place of temporary residence has also changed. It will be 3 working days.
Hotels, recreational zones and farmsteads no longer register foreigners temporarily staying in Belarus, but remotely report the arrival and settlement of tourists to the Internal Affairs bodies.
Alexander Krotov, lawyer of the Republican Union of the Tourism Industry: "One doesn't need to have the registration paper, while checking in the hotel."
Getting a residence permit has also become easier. Now one needs to live in Belarus for 5 years. Foreign students who come to Belarus to study also receive a legal residence permit.
Foreign investors can also move to live in Belarus, if they have invested more than 405,000 Belarusian rubles in our economy. The tourism and migration experts are confident that the new law will provide an additional incentive to attract tourists, develop business contacts and increase the investment attractiveness of Belarus.
