Independence Day starts in Brest with action of memory

Independence Day is celebrated all over Belarus. In Brest, the main site for celebration is the legendary citadel. An action of memory was held there. After all, the courage and heroism of the defenders of the fortress are not forgotten.

Celebrations are held in parks, on the pedestrian street Sovetskaya.

Live flowers and wreaths were laid on Liberty Square to the obelisk in honor of the liberators. Then the ceremony continued in the Brest Hero Fortress. The fallen heroes were honored with a minute of silence at the Eternal Flame.

Today, a youth patriotic center with an interactive platform was opened in the Brest Fortress. Before the war the headquarters of the 125th Infantry Regiment was located here. The building with almost a century of history was restored, maximally preserving the spirit of a unique place. The center is able to host rallies and historic reenactment. It is planned to create the largest laser tag in the country here.

Celebrations, sports competitions, contests, concerts continue in different parts of the city. In the evening a big concert will take place on the main square of Brest.
