Belarusians vaccinated against COVID-19 can become donors of plasma
In addition to vaccination, WHO recommends COVID-19 convalescent plasma as another method of treatment for coronavirus. Belarusians vaccinated from COVID-19 will be able to become donors of plasma in the future. This was reported by Fedor Karpenko, Director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Transfusiology and Biotechnology. According to international standards, it is possible to donate plasma one month after the vaccination. This is enough time for the development of antibodies. The issues of plasma procurement and development of a drug were discussed in Minsk by specialists at an international conference on the work of blood services in the context of the pandemic. A system of procurement of COVID-19 convalescent plasma was established In Belarus. More than 4 tons of such blood plasma was collected in the country.
