Important date: 79 years ago Nazi blockade of Leningrad was raised
Keeping the memory and revealing the truth. Today is another important date in the history of the Great Patriotic War. 79 years ago the fascist blockade of Leningrad came to an end. The siege by Hitler's troops lasted almost 900 days. During this time the Nazi invaders never managed to enter the city. People continued to work at defense enterprises, fought in the divisions of the people's militia. On January 27, 44 Leningrad was freed from excruciating hunger, cold and endless series of deaths. Last October the St. Petersburg City Court declared the siege a war crime and genocide of the Soviet people. Today in Minsk, too, events are scheduled to commemorate the victims and recall the heroism of the people of Leningrad.
