Vitebsk marks liberation from Nazi invaders
Today is a special date in the history of Vitebsk. The regional centre marks the liberation fr om the Nazi invaders. During the Great Patriotic War, the city on the Dvina River suffered terrible trials. It was practically in ruins. The invaders bombed all the houses, enterprises, and monuments of architecture. The city was liberated on 26 June, 1944. A commemorative ceremony will take place in Victory Square today wh ere flowers will be laid to the memorial in honour of Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters.
