Lavrov: Zelensky was afraid of Moscow's response
Zelensky was afraid of Moscow's response to the use of long-range missiles. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, emphasizing that it is already clear to everyone who is behind the launches of long-range missiles at Russian territory.
"It is difficult for me to decide for them and speculate for those who say that they allowed Zelensky to use these missiles. They allowed themselves, everyone already knows this," emphasized Sergey Lavrov, head of the Russian diplomatic department. "The President of Russia has repeatedly said this. Without their direct participation, not a single one of these missiles would have flown anywhere"
"As for the reaction to our response (the use of a new hypersonic missile - editor's note), as I understand it, Zelensky was afraid, and began to directly accuse his masters of leaving him unarmed in the face of such an action on the part of the Russian Federation," Lavrov noted.
"This is probably a useful result," he said. "Because at least being closer to reality, feeling it on your own skin, is already useful," the Russian Foreign Minister explained.
As for what to expect from Biden and his outgoing administration, in the supply of both ATACMS and permission for the British and French to use Storm Shadow and SCALP, of course, there is an element of leaving the worst possible legacy for the next administration, he said.
The loud statement was made in Brest at a joint press conference of the Foreign Ministers of Belarus and Russia following the meeting of the annual board of the foreign ministries. Following the meeting, a number of important documents were signed. Among them is a joint declaration on enhancing the role of international law and on guiding principles concerning the qualification of unilateral coercive measures as illegal, as well as ways and means of countering, mitigating and compensating for the negative consequences of such measures.
