Representatives of the governments of Belarus and Oman signed cooperation documents in Muscat and worked out roadmaps for industries as part of the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BELTA reports.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Industry of Belarus and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of industrial cooperation. The parties also signed a memorandum of understanding between the same department of Oman and the State Standardization Committee of Belarus in the field of standardization, metrology, conformity assessment and accreditation.
"We worked on these documents immediately before leaving for Oman, and the final approvals were made yesterday evening. The fact that we worked on all the wording until the very end indicates that there is interest on both sides," said Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov in a conversation with journalists. "These are the first steps that are currently building the architecture of our cooperation in these areas. And subsequently, they should be supplemented by specific projects to implement the plans that we agreed on during this visit."
In addition, during the President's visit, outside the framework of the high-level meetings, many consultations and negotiations took place at the ministerial level - the heads of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture. "Together with our partners, we have worked out specific mechanisms for building cooperation. And if we are talking about the ministers of agriculture, food and industry, then specific real projects have already been worked out. Maps for the implementation of these projects have been agreed upon. This also concerns the packaging of our baby food in Oman and subsequent sales on the local market and abroad. It concerns the supply of dry milk, some cereals. There is interest in veterinary drugs," said Maxim Ryzhenkov.
In addition, there was talk about the possibility of supplying meat products, since Belarusian producers have halal certificates, and this allows them to enter the Omani market.
"That is, these are no longer just talks, but specific agreements, according to which separate roadmaps have also been signed. They define the steps on how we will implement these projects," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
He noted that, in accordance with these maps, mutual visits at the business level will take place in the near future, and company representatives will work at their level to build long-term and reliable relationships.
