On 14 December, thenegotiations were held in Muscat between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi, BelTA informs citing the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
The foreign ministers considered current issues on the bilateral and international agenda, priority areas for the development of Belarusian-Omani cooperation in the near future in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry thanked the Omani side for the intensive joint work on organizing the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman. It was noted that the arrival of the Belarusian head of state was preceded by a number of important preparatory events. In particular, in 2024, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, a delegation headed by the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, and political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers visited Muscat.
A representative delegation of Belarusian food industry enterprises led by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food took part in the Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition.
The parties agreed on the need to quickly establish an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and discussed the appointment of its co-chairs.
Much attention was paid to the topic of stimulating communication between the business circles of the two countries, as well as tourist exchanges
In order to maintain high dynamics of bilateral contacts and timely coordination of positions on topical issues of cooperation, Maxim Ryzhenkov invited his Omani counterpart to visit the Republic of Belarus in 2025. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
On the same day, as part of the preparation for the visit of the head of the Belarusian state to Oman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus took part in meetings with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate Saud al-Habsi and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman Qais al-Yousef. Specific steps to develop bilateral relations in the areas of food security, industry, tourism and education were discussed.
Also on December 14, the Minister met with the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman Faisal al-Rawas. The Omani side confirmed its readiness to begin practical activities of the Belarusian-Omani Business Committee.
The parties noted their mutual interest in expanding the practice of exchanging business visits and participating in specialized exhibitions in Belarus and Oman.
