World leaders outline their vision of Ukrainian conflict 79th UN General Assembly
The High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly has started in New York, where the general debate - the debates of world leaders - is traditionally considered the key event.
One of the main topics of the first day was the Ukrainian conflict. Joe Biden, for whom the speech was largely a farewell, stated that thanks to the USA, Ukraine is not destroyed, and NATO is stronger than before. At the same time, the States will not stop supporting Kiev. There was a place in his speech for an old joke, as old as he is.
Joe Biden, President of the USA:
"I witnessed a remarkable historical development. I was first elected as a senator from five states of America in 1972. I know I look 40 years old. I know this".
But the President of Turkey was not in the mood for laughter. Most of his speech was devoted to the problems of Palestine and criticizing Israel. Speaking about the Ukrainian conflict, Erdogan stated that Turkey advocates for ending the war through diplomacy based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The President of Brazil also spoke with similar rhetoric. Lula da Silva called for the implementation of a peace plan proposed by his country and China, which involves stopping hostilities along the front line.
