How BRICS launches transformation of international relations - Screenshot
Equity, technology and security are the foundations on which the consolidation of states within the BRICS framework is based.
The organization has literally launched a transformation of international relations. The Kazan summit is already being called the new Bretton Woods, following the example of the conference of the same name, which established the current system of monetary arrangements in 1944.
What initiatives are becoming growth points, for the BRICS countries and in what direction this powerhouse of international relations is heading? We will understand this under the heading "Screenshot".
The BRICS summit in Kazan documented the destruction of a sanctions-based world. The Organization has literally become a center of gravity for states that advocate equitable economic relations. The balance is shifting to the East at a rapid pace. At the same time, it is worth realizing that the BRICS is only at the beginning of its journey and there is still a huge amount of work ahead. To some extent, for us, for the Republic of Belarus, this is a serious window of opportunity and, as a consequence, responsibility. By becoming a BRICS partner, we are at the forefront of the organization's development and have the opportunity to influence, including the fundamental principles that underpin the future alliance.
Oleg Romanov - Chairman of the Belarusian party "Belaya Rus":
"To be honest, it's more of an interest club now. Indeed, relations between the BRICS member countries are more bilateral, while the unified BRICS policy is not yet very pronounced. But what was important was the summit that took place in Kazan. That it was there that the movement towards a full-fledged integration structure was announced and started, or even continued, namely that a grain exchange was being prepared. A system of financial payments between countries is being prepared, with different institutional structures that will enable the section to be truly a force that will act as a whole in the world."
This is indeed true and the BRICS today is more of a G7 format than, for example, the Union State of Russia and Belarus. That's measured in categories that we can understand better. And the initiatives that Oleg Alexandrovich is focusing on frame the BRICS as single, collective bodies through which it is possible to promote a coherent position. These are nothing but the first steps towards closer cooperation and alliance. After all, the BRICS has its own position on global trends in international politics and relations. This is what one of the top Ukrainian political analysts, Ruslan Bortnik, says about it.
RuslanBortnik - Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics:
"The scope of the issues covered is huge, huge and it has a very, very strong geopolitical component. Because the BRICS is already taking on the right to speak up and speak up, which is to say, from space to environment to artificial intelligence. From the situation in Syria and Gaza to international trade, sanctions and sporting events. That is, such an absolutely geopolitical set of issues in the BRICS resolution shows that the ambitions of this organization are global."
One can disagree with the wording of Ruslan Bortnik, rather than ambition, the BRICS countries have no task to dominate and impose their will. It's more about wanting to be heard. For the long existence of a unipolar world has created a certain hunger and a demand for justice. The demise of the West allows an alternative position to be heard on a range of issues. Bortnik is absolutely right. It is important to understand that the dominance of the Anglo-Saxon world was based on three whales. Bayonets, sanctions and technology. Russia has challenged and demonstrated that American bayonets have an alternative, and swinging them with impunity will no longer work. The switch to national currencies in mutual settlements has shaken the hegemony of the dollar and demonstrated that sanctions can be freely circumvented. As for technology, the West certainly remains the leader in brain-buying around the world, but trends are already largely shaping and setting in the East. And here Belarus has something to put on the BRICS round table. Alexander Lukashenko voiced the strengths of our country at the summit.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
"Strong scientific schools are an important factor in the successful development of our sovereign state. Energy-efficient technologies are among the priorities. Nanomaterials and new energy sources, industrial biotechnology, biomedicine, and the IT sphere. Belarus has developed a number of competences in the field of aerospace. We are ready to contribute to the BRICS satellite system initiative and, in the future, to the space research consortium."
And if the Belarusian leader traditionally looks over the horizon and operates in strategic planning categories, let's look at what he has already managed to accomplish and what makes Belarus attractive to the BRICS. The first is the National Biotechnology Corporation, which allows us to carve out a niche in the emerging BRICS grain exchange. The second is a nuclear power plant, which opens the door for us to work within the BRICS platform on the peaceful atom. This is what analyst Sergei Pereslegin says about this.
Sergei Pereslegin - analyst (Russia):
"A peaceful atom is more complex than a military one and requires a lot more effort, so of course, in fact the next step that will be taken here is to create a single, gridded rather than centralized, but unified BRICS power system and to ensure the development of that power system through the predominant development of nuclear power. And you and I have said that the sixth technological wave, with its artificial intelligence at the heart of everything, will require a doubling of energy production."
In this case, the creation of a unified BRICS power system may well be based on the experience of interaction between Russia and Belarus. A joint point market is already being formed between the two countries, and Vladimir Putin has signed the relevant order. In fact, what remains is to scale up the experience to the BRICS level.
