Lavrov: Belarus and Russia are completing preparation of a treaty on security guarantees

Belarus and Russia are completing preparation of a bilateral interstate treaty on security guarantees. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the II Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, BELTA reports.
"With our Belarusian friends, we have developed a draft concept of the Union State's security and are completing preparation of a bilateral interstate treaty on security guarantees. A treaty that will be aimed at further strengthening obligations for reliable mutual protection from external threats," the minister said.

He also mentioned building security agreements with other states. Thus, a treaty between Russia and the DPRK on a comprehensive strategic partnership was signed and recently entered into force.
The treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership that is being prepared will become a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations. The document is being prepared for signing in the near future and will include provisions on the parties' desire for closer cooperation in the field of defense, interaction in the interests of peace and security at the regional and global levels.
"Strategic cooperation and comprehensive partnership between Russia and China are of paramount importance for strengthening stability in Eurasia," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
According to him, in addition to bilateral efforts to strengthen security, multilateral associations such as the SCO, ASEAN, CSTO, CIS, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and CICA also play a special role in the Eurasian space.
