Serbian Parliament Vice-Speaker: We have friendly relations with Alexander Lukashenko
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko enjoys great respect in Serbia. This was stated to journalists by Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Janjic, BelTA reported.
"We always emphasize that we have friendly relations with Belarus and especially with President Alexander Lukashenko," Jovan Janjic said. "Alexander Lukashenko is extremely popular in Serbia and enjoys great respect. Because he is known there as a leader who successfully leads his country. In addition, he is a great friend of Serbia, which he has shown in many circumstances. He was the only President who came to Belgrade when we were subjected to NATO aggression."
We appreciate Belarus' support for Serbia within the framework of international organizations. Our relations with Belarus are friendly, and we want to strengthen them. In those areas where cooperation can be expanded, we would like to make our contribution.
Today, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeenko met with the Serbian parliamentary delegation. It includes the Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Janjic, deputies from various political parties, eight of whom are members of the friendship group with Belarus, as well as representatives of Serbian business circles and clergy, more than 30 people in total. The parties will discuss current issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation and prospects for increasing mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic sphere.
This is not the first time that contacts with Serbian parliamentarians have been made. On September 9, 2024, a meeting was held in the House of Representatives between the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov and the Serbian parliamentary delegation headed by Jovan Janjic, at which an agreement was reached to intensify the activities of parliamentary friendship groups.
