The triumph of Belarusian diplomacy in "Screenshot" section
The II Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security has become a popular platform that allows us to postpone the possibility of World War III.
Alternative options for the future are discussed in Belarus. Specific steps are taken to form a fair security architecture. Details in the "Screenshot" section.
Reduce the degree of intensity
Nuclear war as an alternative to dialogue and the search for compromises. How did we find ourselves on the brink of an abyss, and why did the balance that gave almost a century of peace in Europe collapse?
For a long time, the geostrategic balance was based on specific agreements between the Soviet Union and the United States. After the collapse of the socialist camp, the White House gradually unilaterally withdrew or simply violated all agreements. By placing nuclear bombs at six air bases in five countries, they effectively trampled the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. In 2001, the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty was torn up. In 2019, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty was destroyed.
In an effort to ensure its unconditional dominance in the international arena, the United States destroyed the system of checks and balances. Elena Ponomareva, a political scientist, a specialist in color revolutions, and a professor at MGIMO (Russia), shared her thoughts on this:
"We are living in conditions of devaluation, and some experts are even talking about the death of international law. And we see that there are no opportunities or grounds to implement many of the decisions that are being voiced today at international venues such as the UN. With all the importance of this organization, of course, some new structures and institutions are maturing. And in particular, at the venues of such a forum (II Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security - editor's note), completely new, fundamental foundations of Eurasian security are being laid. Therefore, of course, you are right, of course, the future of not only our states, but also the security of the region is in our hands."
The Minsk International Conference lays the foundation for a new security architecture. And here the approach that is being implemented by Belarusian diplomacy is extremely important. We are not imposing a ready-made document, demanding that everyone accepted it in our vision and understanding. And it is worth noting that this is an approach that is often practiced in the international arena today. In Minsk, they propose to jointly develop the main provisions. The Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity should become a product of collective activity.
It is worth noting that these processes became possible only after the emergence of a new alternative pole of power. BRICS has become a center of attraction - they believed in it and see the future of the organization. The Belarusian leader calls for abandoning formalism and forcing the development of BRICS. Moreover, Russia and Belarus really have something to offer. The unique experience of developing the Union State allows us to apply working mechanisms at the BRICS level. In fact, we are talking about scaling up the experience.
Maria Butina, a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, is confident that the mechanisms of interaction between Russia and Belarus will be in demand:
"The model of the Union State is unique for the world and should be broadcast. This is a visa-free regime, a single market, the possibility of organizing a single space for cooperation on the Internet, joint developments, IT technologies. We have complete integration, in particular on the issue of peaceful atoms. We have created a single energy system, I think that this is a prospect for BRICS. Another thing that will certainly appear on the BRICS platform is the creation of some alternative instrument for making internal payments. Because I remind you that Russia and Belarus have this at the moment."
Speaking on the sidelines of the Minsk International Conference, the Belarusian leader made almost sensational theses. Alexander Lukashenko directly voiced what is being discussed behind the scenes at the highest level. If BRICS can replace international institutions, then there is nothing critical about it. The UN transformation has been discussed in half-tones for several years now, and only Minsk raises the issue point-blank. The Western model of globalization has failed. The US has failed in its role as a global shepherd. The future belongs to the collective East and the united South. And Belarus is not a passive observer in these matters. It is Minsk that is laying the foundation for the future system of international relations.
