Ambrazevich: There can be no place for "fair" sanctions adopted in violation of international law
There is no and cannot be a place for "fair" sanctions adopted in violation of international law. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus at the international conference "Sanctions, Business, Human Rights".
Yuri Ambrazevich, speaking on behalf of the government of Belarus, emphasized that the country's main goal is to completely stop the practice of illegal unilateral restrictive measures and cancel those already introduced in violation of international law, without the consent of the UN Security Council.
Yury Ambrazevich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus:
"It is widely known that the brakes in the form of sanctions on the development of each of the affected countries have already made it impossible for the entire world community to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We call on all those who will suffer because of this not to bury their heads in the sand, to join the member states of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, and to jointly and openly speak out from these positions. In the current circumstances, we call on like-minded states, all states already suffering from sanctions, all sympathizers to unite in finding ways to create systems to facilitate international financial settlements. The world must free itself from the monopoly of one currency and find an alternative."
The conference was organized by the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur on the Impact of Sanctions on Human Rights Elena Dovgan.
