Humanity has come closer than ever to the dangerous line of a planetary war; parliamentarians must do everything to avert the threat from their peoples. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Sergei Khomenko in Panama, where the Parlatino Assembly is taking place.
Belarus values the good friendly relations that have developed with most countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and is aimed at active cooperation.
Parlatino has been uniting parliamentarians from more than two dozen countries for 60 years. It actively promotes sustainable development, integration for the prosperity of states, strengthening peace and security, which is especially important in times of new challenges. And this is what Belarus is talking about in its speech. The irreversible process of building a more just multipolar world is underway. Unfortunately, it is proceeding painfully and the former "hegemons" of world power are not ready to accept the loss. Strength tests are underway: armed conflicts are being kindled and fueled, states are being strangled by sanctions.
Sergei Khomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:
"We have a lot in common, our approaches largely coincide. We advocate compliance with the norms and principles of international law, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, peaceful resolution of conflicts, preservation of traditional spiritual values as the foundation for the development of human civilization".
Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation both in the political arena and in the economy.
The III Belarusian-Latin American Forum confirmed the significant potential for further expansion of economic cooperation.
A marathon of bilateral meetings of various levels took place on the sidelines of the Assembly. The geography of the negotiations includes, for example, Colombia, Uruguay, Morocco, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Panama. Positions have also been verified with Chairman Parlatino.
Sergey Klishevich, Member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus:
"Members of Latin American parliaments know the initiatives of Belarus, the initiatives of the President of Belarus regarding a fair geopolitical transformation. And they hope that such a version of a new world order will still win and reign on the planet, which, naturally, will contribute to the disappearance of all kinds of conflicts, hot spots, which today, unfortunately, are becoming more and more. We learned about this position of many members of Latin American parliaments at a personal meeting that took place here."
Pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food, industrial cooperation - all these are the prospects. Among them are also tourism, science and education. Belarus is among the world leaders in quarry equipment, agro-industrial complex, dairy production and potash fertilizers, ready to participate in solving issues of ensuring food security in the region.
"Cooperation is taking place in the economic, political and social spheres, in education and medicine. Therefore, the conversation that took place once again confirms that the goals are the same and the principles of sovereignty, state integrity, preservation of historical traditions, historical memory," emphasized Sergei Khomenko.
Arelis Santana Bella, Member of the Cuban Parliament:
"We can work together, we can successfully develop our cooperation. This is a very important point. There are many areas of joint participation in projects related to education, health care, this is the food industry, the development of science, technology and innovation, biotechnology".
The parliamentary delegation promotes the interests of Belarus in the international arena
Latin America and the Caribbean is a region with priceless natural resources and biodiversity, which are the basis of most of the region's economies. It is clear that key players in the world market are of great interest in it. Belarus, following the principles of its multi-vector foreign policy, offers a partnership on equal terms. And parliamentary diplomacy can help promote interests.
