Time for truth and dialogue - results of II International Conference on Eurasian Security summed up
The II International Conference on Eurasian Security united more than 40 states and showed that the sanctions club - (no matter how hard someone tries) - misses the target. But it definitely comes back like a boomerang.
Today, new "centers of power" are emerging and growing stronger - and this is already an objective reality.
How do countries unite to study the situation and find common solutions to seemingly insoluble problems? Why do the so-called "cookies" from the hegemon no longer seem so attractive either in the East or anywhere else?
Those who want to be on trend in the future need to establish relationships with the most promising forces in international relations.
The principles of a multipolar world are being formed
The world, as we know and observe it, is in crisis. First the economy, then migration, and then the ever-erupting local hot conflicts eloquently exposed the weakness of the unipolar world order, with one center of power. And this means that a new world will be born. A world based on fairer rules that take into account all the diversity and all possible alternatives for the coexistence of states.
Belarus is at the very forefront of these trends. Talking about the need to develop fair and uniform rules for everyone is our consistent position.
While opening the second International Conference on Eurasian Security, Alexander Lukashenko clearly outlined this need.
A. Lukashenko on international legal instruments and military security:
"Today we must state that there are virtually no legal international legal instruments left that form guarantees in the sphere of military security.
By and large, there are only two treaties left: on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and on strategic offensive weapons. And even those do not work: the first is practically not implemented, and the second is morally obsolete.
What is especially indicative is that no work is being done to conclude new agreements in this area. This means that someone does not need them. And this is primarily on the conscience of politicians, but not the military."
The process of decentralization of the world political system has been going on since about the beginning of the century. But only now we see how the once hegemon USA is completely losing its dominant positions in the world. First, it was the Middle East, when, instead of "controlled chaos", Washington received a shameful flight. And then the USA began to lose such traditional allies as Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The Middle East is just one of these points. It turned out that the US has no one to rely on. Moreover, those to whom the world hegemon promised comprehensive support also cannot rely on the US today. Look at Ukraine, what it has come to now. American sanctions are a feverish attempt to intimidate those who are tired of the unipolar world.
And so that diplomats and politicians, and not guns, speak, such conferences are needed. This is the civilized way to find solutions to the accumulated problems. We discussed the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multilateralism in the 21st Century, initiated earlier by Belarus. We need a set of principles and rules by which we can live in a renewed world. This is still the beginning of the journey, but the road will be mastered by the one who walks it.
The initiative to develop the Charter resonates with Belarus' partners. One of the main principles of the planned document is the diversity of paths of progressive development. In other words, this is the peaceful coexistence of different political systems. Only by communicating with each other respectfully and as equals, and not in the language of sanctions, can we build a comfortable world in coexistence with each other.
