Foreign Ministry: Belarus ready to respond positively to constructive steps of Lithuania
Four years of rigid rule of the conservative liberals have come to an end in Lithuania. Today Lithuanian parliamentarians will approve the program of the 19th Government, after which the new Cabinet of Ministers headed by the Social Democrat Gintautas Palutskas will take the oath of office in the Seimas and start work.
Expectations from the work of the new Lithuanian government were voiced today in the Foreign Ministry of Belarus. They emphasized that among the new faces of the Cabinet of Ministers in Vilnius there are people who are able to take a different view on the solution of internal problems of Lithuania and its positioning in the world, including relations with Belarus.
Anatoly Glaz, head of the Department of Information and Digital Diplomacy, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry:
“We do not hesitate to recognize the importance for our people and business of normal trade and economic relations, normal border crossing regime, transit, cooperation in other practical areas with Lithuania. Belarus is always ready to respond positively to any constructive step of its neighbors.”
This is evidenced, in particular, by the steps taken by Belarus. For example, the visa-free regime for citizens of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, which will continue to operate next year.
