S. Samarin: The election campaign in US was dirty
The election of the new US leader became the most expensive in history - Trump and Harris spent 3.5 billion dollars on their campaigns. US political scientist Steve Samarin spoke about the progress and results of the election campaign, the reaction of society and the future of Washington's foreign policy: "The vote counts are still ongoing, but we can already talk about Trump's crushing victory over his rival Kamala Harris. It was a very long night, when the candidates were, well, as they say, literally neck and neck, but at about 3 a.m. Eastern Time in the United States it became clear that the victory had been won and Donald Trump would become the 47th president. The counting is still ongoing, but nevertheless it will not change anything in the situation that we have today now, and we can say with confidence that the owner of the White House for the next 4 years will be a representative of the Republican Party, Donald Trump."
"The campaign was quite difficult. You could even say dirty, but nevertheless it is difficult to imagine now that someone will wave their fists after this big fight, which this campaign was, there were many reproaches addressed to each other by the candidates, the campaign was difficult, and, of course, it could have been more intelligent and more dignified. Of course, there were manipulations, there were probably dead souls, there were probably some stuffing, but so far nothing so serious has been recorded that could change the election results or that could provoke any protests," the political scientist continued. Steve Samarin also said that the US is expecting post-election protests and provocations: "I do not think that we can expect an appeal or a review of the voting results, and protests, of course, will certainly be. After all, more than 60 million voted for Kamala Harris. And, of course, it is unlikely that they will so easily come to terms with such a colossal defeat. As we know from our election campaign, there was even an assassination attempt on presidential candidate Donald Trump, so I think that we can expect some provocations during this period, when the transfer of power from Joe Biden to Donald Trump will take place, probably the lessons from what happened in January 20, probably these lessons have been learned and most likely, the special services are ready for such a development and most likely, they, of course, will not allow it.
I do not know whether his new term will be a golden era, but the fact that the 4-year-long night is over and the dawn has come, and there is hope that our leadership and the new administration will change the vector of both foreign policy and domestic policy, of course, there is such hope, although so much has been broken. The previous administration of Joe Biden created so much garbage that one garbage truck cannot handle it. We will see, first of all, new rhetoric that will come from the White House. Well, I would really like this rhetoric to be filled with new content. Of course, I am sure that we will see serious changes in the attitude of the United States to conflicts that are now in the world, in general, very serious, dangerous, this is the conflict in Ukraine, which Trump promised to end in 1 day. Let's really hope that if not in 1 day, then at least he will do something so that America stops this conflict as much as, of course, it is now possible, but I think that this is in the hands of Donald Trump, and he will do it, the conflict in the Middle East is, of course, more serious and there, so to speak, it will probably be more difficult to put out this fire, but I am sure that at least attempts will be made, since now for the United States this is absolutely necessary, the fact is that our domestic policy and our economy have suffered greatly from the actions of the previous administration, and we will have to work very hard again to somehow make ends meet, even to some extent.
