Situation in Middle East heated to limit
The situation in the Middle East is heated to the limit. Iran fired hundreds of missiles at Israeli territory tonight. The data on damage and casualties from various sources are fully different. In Tehran, they declare about 80 percent of the destruction of targets, in Tel Aviv - vice versa... The world community has once again condemned the actions of the Islamic Republic, turning a blind eye to the aggression of the Jewish state... Today a meeting of the UN Security Council will be held, which is unlikely to be able to bring peace to the red-hot region.
It so happened that many of the words of Vladimir Zhirinovsky became prophetic. Today, the world is again frozen because of what is happening in the Middle East, forgetting about any other points on the map - including Ukraine. And there, by the way, Russian troops have almost completely occupied Ugledar, but that's not what we're talking about now. After Iran patiently endured one Israeli blow after another, the long-talked response finally came. And judging by the scale, very, very impressive. The April blow of retribution was not even close. Still, revenge for the murdered leaders of their proxies cannot be symbolic.
Nasser Kanani, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman:
Iran will not ignore any acts of aggression by Israel. Israel will never escape punishment from the regional resistance forces, the Iranian military, and its own people after committing a crime. We will take appropriate and decisive action.
According to various sources, Tehran fired from 180 to 400 missiles towards Israel this night. As the Iranian side notes, 80% of them have reached their goal. At the same time, the attack was carried out not on civilians, but on military facilities. The Islamic Republic announced the defeat of more than 20 fifth-generation F-35 fighters of Israel, the shelling of three military bases, as well as the Mossad base. Some of the Iranian missiles hit the Netzarim area in the Gaza Strip, "hitting a large number" of Israeli tanks. However, in Tel Aviv, on the contrary, they said that the damage was minimal. It is extremely difficult to get to the bottom of the truth here.
Iran, in the event of an attack by Israel's allies, will hit their bases in the Middle East, the country's General Staff said.
During the massive attack, the White House was not without it. Joe Biden ordered the US military to support Israel. However, Iran was quick to warn that U.S. bases would be targeted if the U.S. joined in any retaliatory measures against Iran or if Israel used Iraqi airspace against Tehran. Washington apparently took note of this information and immediately lashed out with criticism, saying that what Israel is doing is legal, and Iran's attack is completely different.
Matthew Miller, US State Department spokesman:
What you saw was that Iran launched a state-by-state attack to protect the terrorist groups that it created, nurtured, and controlled. Thus, there is a difference between the actions that we have seen Israel take to protect its civilian population.
How Israel has protected its civilian population is a big question. The Iron Dome clearly failed - and if the missiles had been aimed at a residential area, they would certainly have flown in. Chaos reigned in the bomb shelters, and those who did not have time to take shelter could celebrate their second birthday.
According to Israeli reports, no one was killed or injured during the attack. But still, there was one victim - a man in Jericho in the West Bank was killed by a falling missile.
For the people of Iran and Gaza, the current strike was a cause for celebration. In Tehran, people took to the streets to mark the day of retribution. The slogans "Death to Israel!" and "Damn Israel!" are heard.
"I feel proud! I am a Shiite and I am Iranian. We must destroy Israel. It's useless to wait. This must continue more decisively. Israel must understand that it cannot enter into a fight with the Iranians, with the Shiites!" the man shares his feelings.
In Israel, they do not intend to let go of the incident. They said that the Iranian attack was a big mistake and promised to give an answer - at a convenient time.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel:
Iran made a big mistake tonight – and it will pay for it. The Iranian regime does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and to retaliate against our enemies.
It is extremely difficult to predict how the situation will develop further. Israel is still used to keeping its promises, and now the ball is in its court. However, it will be difficult to respond directly to Iran, and therefore Tel Aviv again continued to bomb Lebanon.
