Zakharova: Euromaidan in Kiev was sponsored by the West to pump resources out of Ukraine

November 21 marks 11 years since the events that became the root cause of the current situation in Ukraine.

Euromaidan began on November 21, 2013. The mass, months-long protest action turned into bloody clashes with security forces and ended with a coup d'etat in February 2014. Nationalists seized power and went to war in the Russian-speaking Donbass.

"Euromaidan in Ukraine was paid for by the West to pump resources out of the country and turn it into an anti-Russian stronghold." This was stated today by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

Moreover, in Ukraine the coup was called a revolution of dignity. But the results of the Maidan are disappointing. 11 years later, Ukraine is in a deep crisis. The country is essentially living at the expense of the United States, citizens are fleeing, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering huge losses in the special operation zone.
