Lukashenko: If you want to rise higher, don't break the foundation built by generations before you

The history of any sovereign and independent state is made up of traditions, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the New Year's ball for young people at the Palace of Independence, BELTA reported.
It is extremely important for me that you, being here among people of different ages, statuses, positions, feel the essence of our society, where everyone is equal in their opportunities. Where the change of generations is built on respect for the historical achievements of the people and, of course, on continuity.
Alexander Lukashenko:
"It was with this main idea, in my opinion, that I came into big politics a long time ago - to maintain continuity. There was an inner confidence in the correctness of this course, and there was a demand from society. Therefore, there was support from the people," said Alexander Lukashenko. "Because every sensible citizen understood a simple truth: we, Belarusians, at the very least, do not need to fight for the right to build our own state. But if we forget or betray those who have walked this path, we will have to start over. And what is most terrible (you can already see this today), perhaps we will have to start over with weapons in hand. God forbid."
"This is the truth of life and the philosophy of success: if you want to rise even higher, do not break the support built by generations before you. Lean on it and move forward," said the Belarusian leader.
He noted that such a serious conversation in the festive decorations may seem inappropriate. "But the decorations are always temporary. And the moment you are in is of fundamental importance. For someone, it may be fateful," the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko is confident that, looking at the photographs after the ball, its participants will remember these moments for a long time, and in a few years they will be able to tell their children about it.
The event itself began with a proposal to hold the Vienna Ball in Minsk at this venue. "Then I thought: "Well, why should someone come here and create such a holiday for us? We must do it ourselves." And we did. For many years now we have been gathering on New Year's Eve and spending this holiday together. It has become a tradition. It is symbolic. Remember, this is what the history of any state is made of - sovereign and independent," the head of state said.
