On October 14, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus discussed the topical issues of the development of high-performance sports. In addition, words of gratitude to our athletes were also heard.
The chairman of the legislative body Igor Sergeenko personally congratulated the champions, medalists and their coaches on the excellent performance at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games and XVII Summer Paralympics in Paris, presenting the appropriate thanks.
In the French capital, Ivan Litvinovich won gold, becoming a two-time Olympic champion in trampolining. Violetta Bordilovskaya became the second in the same discipline, as well as Yevgeniy Zolotoy in rowing. Weightlifter Evgeny Tikhontsov won bronze.
Our Paralympians also made a loud statement, winning 7 awards, 6 of which were gold. At the same time, Belarusians had to compete in Paris in a neutral status. But despite everything, they still felt the support of the homeland, emphasized the athletes themselves.
Ivan Litvinovich, two-time Olympic champion in trampoline:
"We are a people who adapt to everything. Any sanctions, of course, are unpleasant for us, but we will endure everything and proudly stand on the podium. It was hard at times, but we felt the support of the country".
The participants of the event not only recalled vivid triumphs. During the meeting they also touched upon the issues of legislative support of activities in the field of sports.
