President of Belarus calls development of Antarctica important instrument of international diplomacy

Scientific achievements in such global areas as the development of polar regions are an important instrument of international diplomacy, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted at a meeting with scientists and participants of Belarusian Antarctic expeditions, BELTA reports.
"It is very important that we continue to actively interact with other countries in the development of Antarctica," the President noted. "Especially now, when the complex geopolitical situation requires finding new areas of cooperation, making effective decisions to promote creative initiatives."
As an example, the head of state cited cooperation with Russia in the development of Antarctica. This area of bilateral cooperation has repeatedly become a subject of discussion at the highest level. "Support will be provided. It is already being provided, there are no claims against Russia. There will be all kinds of support. Naturally, we need to work together, we need to share research results, and so on," said Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the President, Antarctica is simply an ideal example of unbiased and constructive relations between different countries. "Thank God that there is still a piece of land on the planet where such relations can be established and developed," he added.
"By and large, scientific achievements in such global areas as space exploration, the development of nuclear energy, counteracting pandemics, and the exploration of polar regions are an important tool of international diplomacy," the head of state emphasized.
