The main negotiating day in Oman. Lukashenko meeting Sultan
Convert political capital into economic projects. Today is the main negotiating day of the visit of the President of Belarus to Oman.
The program includes negotiations with the Sultan of Oman. The leaders of the countries will discuss - the state and prospects for the development of relations, areas in which additional impetus can be given to bilateral cooperation. The heads of state will also exchange views on the current international agenda.
Sergey Terentyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt and concurrently to Oman:
We need an additional push, additional movement forward. And I am confident that the new visit of the head of our state will allow us to bring relations with this wonderful country to a qualitatively new level. There is great interest in us in the country, great interest from our business. Excellent political relations are maintained between the countries. There are no contradictions between us and the Omanis in the international arena. And we need this favorable political capital, the favorable atmosphere of political relations to convert into the economic sphere, to intensify our trade, to intensify our technological exchanges, investment cooperation and, of course, to intensify humanitarian cooperation. I would also include tourism and medical cooperation here. There is great interest. The Omanis have great interest in our achievements in the field of healthcare, high technology, science, all these areas are promising and all these areas will be considered during the upcoming negotiations.
The foundation of relations between Belarus and Oman was laid back in 2007 during the first ever visit of Alexander Lukashenko to this country. Since then, the parties have significantly increased the regulatory framework for bilateral cooperation, significant high-level visits have taken place, joint work is underway in a number of areas. The main focus during the current visit will be on economic issues.
