Belarus IGF-2024 Internet Governance Forum brings together over 300 participants
How to protect children in the digital world and how to protect Belarusians from cyber fraudsters. These issues became key at the Internet Governance Forum, which was held on December 3 in Minsk.
The platform brought together over 300 participants from all over the world. These were businessmen, representatives of tech companies, government agencies and anyone who wants to contribute to the development of the Internet.
One of the hot topics is that teenagers are often bullied on social networks, face fraud and threats.
Oleg Sedelnik, CEO of Belarusian Cloud Technologies LLC:
"For me, as a father, protecting children on the Internet is extremely important. How to protect children from harm from the Internet. But at the same time, it is and should be an important technological platform for development and education. The forum format does not provide answers to all questions. The main goal of the forum is to raise problematic issues, discuss them, and then send them to government agencies."
Recently, Australia banned teenagers under 16 from using social networks. Similar restrictions exist in the Netherlands, France, South Korea, and a law on protecting children on the Internet is being prepared in Turkey. In our country, for now, we have the "golden mean." Also, parents themselves should teach their children digital hygiene.
