Attempted coup d'état in Syria reported by some media

Contradictory information is coming from the Syrian capital. In the center of Damascus the shooting is allegedly heard. Some kind of fighting has been recorded in the vicinity of the General Staff and the presidential palace.

It is likely that this is an attempted coup d'état: in recent days the government army has retreated from a number of cities in the north of the country and the jihadists may be trying to build on their success. There is no independent confirmation of the clashes in Damascus yet.
