Moldova may declare emergency due to possible stoppage of gas transit from Russia

The Government of Moldova calls on the Parliament to introduce a state of emergency in the country for 60 days because of the possible stoppage of gas transit through the pipeline from Russia.

The term of the 5-year contract for transit expires at the end of the year. Kiev has repeatedly stated that it does not intend to extend the agreement. This may become an unsolvable problem for Chisinau. The country's authorities have so far undertaken a state of emergency and dismissed the Minister of Energy. This will certainly not save the country from the winter energy crisis.
