Results of first round of presidential election annulled in Romania
The Constitutional Court of Romania canceled the results of the first round of the presidential election. This is reported by local media with reference to official sources. This means that the whole process of the electoral campaign begins anew.
Now the government must appoint a new date for voting. It is specified that the decision was made after an urgent meeting on the background of a large number of appeals to cancel the results of the elections. However, the hand of the West was not absent here.
The media launched a real harassment of the favorite of the presidential race, Calin Georgescu. He repeatedly stated that Bucharest would benefit from good relations with Moscow. And he noted that NATO and EU membership did not give Romania the necessary protection.
The day before, the United States warned Romania against abandoning its pro-Western course. The U.S. State Department warned of the threat of reduced investment.
