Historical closeness of two nations, Belarus and Russia, is demonstrated through the prism of cultural heritage and world-famous artists, whose exhibitions are is always a sensation. The Art Museum presents an exhibition "Crossing Fates".
Chagall, Bakst and Moiseenko came home to Belarus until March 31. This is a truly unique event. For example, the same "Red Jew" was not exhibited here at all. In total, the Russian Museum sent 31 boxes of art with Belarusian flavor for cultural "export". The Russian Museum has not been demonstrated here on such a scale for a long time.
Alla Vasilevskaya, leading researcher of the scientific and collection department of the National Art Museum of Belarus:
"These are the works of those masters who are Belarusian by origin. They were born on Belarusian soil. But by the will of fate they were, of course, connected with the artistic life of the largest Russian cities. St. Petersburg and Moscow. Because they received their education, worked there. They preserved unique national features in their work."
Here are representatives of the Russian art pantheon -Khrutsky, Zaryanko, Zhukovsky, Ginzburg. Each one is Belarusian. Here, in their homeland, their masterpieces are few, not to mention abroad.
Alfiya Nizamutdinova, leading researcher of the Russian Museum (Russia):
"Moiseenko is a very serious master, one of the masters of our Academy. In particular, this painting - "Youth" - is one of the most interesting ones, it stands on the verge of the development of Moiseenko's own style. It is important for the current exhibition. Here we brought paintings that are directly related to Belarus."
The first act of the exhibition has already taken place in the Marble Palace of St. Petersburg. In the fall, for the sake of the Belarusian collection, the permanent exhibition of the ceremonial halls was removed for the first time.
Victoria Kuzmina, First Deputy Director General of the National Art Museum of Belarus:
"The exhibition was held in St. Petersburg with great resonance. It should be noted that in the first week alone, more than 2,000 people visited it. The Russian Museum focused its exposition on the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus."
