Astana to host CSTO summit

After Pakistan, the President of Belarus arrived on a working visit to Kazakhstan. Tomorrow, Alexander Lukashenko will take part in a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council. The association which, in addition to Belarus includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The discussion will focus on international and regional security.

The planet is in the midst of about fifty hot conflicts. The main question is how to reduce the intensity of military passions - and especially those on the Belarusian doorstep. This is our interest!

Alexander Lukashenko spoke about turbulence, about the fact that there is a tough struggle for leadership in the world, about the need to resolve the Ukrainian conflict and the situation in the Middle East during his visit to Pakistan. The aggravation of the global situation is felt in different parts of the world.

It is expected that at the upcoming CSTO summit, the presidents will exchange views on the most pressing security issues. And even before the meeting of the leaders, the Councils of Foreign Ministers, the heads of defense departments and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils will synchronize their watches. They will talk about what is happening in the Organization's area of responsibility and discuss the prospects for the development of the collective security system. Special attention will be paid to the issues of preparation for the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

It is known that Armenia will not participate in the summit events - however, Yerevan does not object to the planned documents being adopted.

Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly told his colleagues that it is possible to withstand the geopolitical turning point only together. Common history, close ties, our people - this is worth finding a common language and overcoming contradictions and unprecedented external pressure.

Last year, during Minsk's chairmanship in the Association, serious documents were adopted, which specified the issues of the crisis response system.

This now allows us to implement decisions in the shortest possible time and quickly respond to difficult situations.

Tomorrow we will have a busy day of negotiations on the topic of security. But it would be naive to count on 100% publicity given the specifics of the topic. Most of the communication will take place behind closed doors. But we will hear the main points about the positions of the leaders and countries.
