Lukashenko: Belarus' interests must be respected in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

The interests of Belarus should not be infringed upon as a result of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting in the "Open Mic with the President" format with students of humanitarian universities, BELTA reports.
"I do not want war on my land. But, unfortunately, the escalation continues. How should I behave in this situation? I must not get involved in this under any circumstances. And if a clash between Russia and NATO begins, it will not be easy for us either. We did not want a war on our territory, for someone's interests to be resolved here, at our expense," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
The President stated that he never asked to mediate in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and does not like this role. But it so happened that the conflict occurred near Belarus, and he, of course, is interested in its peaceful resolution. After all, the fate of Belarus depends on it. Only for this reason, and not in order to "get noticed", the head of state had to provide and still provides certain assistance to the parties.
"We are three Slavic peoples. No Americans, no Europeans - no one will do anything good for us or help us. We must sit down and agree, - emphasized Alexander Lukashenko. - Why in Belarus? Because it is at our fence, at our border. And our interests must be respected. We want our interests not to be infringed upon when they agree on Ukraine."
