Derusification in Ukraine is acquiring more and more absurd forms. In Nikolaev local authorities dismantled the sculpture depicting the head of the knight, one of the characters of Pushkin's poem “Ruslan and Lyudmila”.
Before that, the Russian classic itself was also hit. Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko boasted: on the Teachers' Day, the portraits of Pushkin, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky were burned in his “educational” center. The MP wrote on social media that “it is time to say goodbye to everything Russian” and published footage of the burning.
