Winter in Gaza Strip threatens refugees with disaster
Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from hunger and thirst, UN representatives report. According to humanitarian organizations, these people manage to eat not more than once every two days. 90% of the residents of the region have left their homes and are living in camps for displaced persons, the delivery of water and food is provided by humanitarian organizations, but is constantly interrupted by shelling and bombing. UN officials report that the situation will turn from critical to catastrophic in winter: cooking and heating will require huge additional amounts of fuel, and current logistics are not capable of delivering fuel to the Gaza Strip.
