Syria appeals to UN Security Council - not to allow Israel to occupy part of its territory
The situation in Syria was discussed at closed consultations of the UN Security Council in New York.
According to the Russian permanent representative, all participants were surprised by the events in the Arab Republic and remained "more or less" united on the issue of the need to preserve the territorial integrity of the country.
Syria has appealed to the Security Council not to allow Israel to take advantage of the situation to occupy part of the country's territory. Tel Aviv has attacked more than 250 targets there since the change of power in Damascus, including military bases, fighter jets, helicopters and missile depots. Several suburbs of Damascus were also shelled. According to the Syrian Minister of Health, 28 people were killed.
Earlier, the IDF advanced into the buffer zone on the Golan Heights, which, as Netanyahu said, will forever remain part of Israel in order to guarantee the country's security.
