SCO Heads of Government Council in Islamabad: Belarus's main statements from the high rostrum

The Asian vector is becoming "global". For reference, more than 70% of Belarus's foreign trade turnover already comes from the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

And here we advocate maximum efficiency and new logistics routes. This was discussed today from the high rostrum of the organization in Islamabad, where the SCO Heads of Government Council was held. And even despite some disagreements among partners, everyone has a desire to strengthen the region's position in the world.

Belarus is attending the council for the first time as a full member of the association. Since July of this year, we have been part of the big SCO family.

At the summit in Astana on July 4, 2024, the Belarusian President said that we would become an active player in the "Shanghai team", and would work hard for the benefit of further development and strengthening of this multilateral platform.

We are for the most active involvement in all areas of the organization's activities.

Our Prime Minister stated from the SCO rostrum that important transport corridors from Asia to Europe, the Belt and Road and the North-South, go through Belarus. And Belarus will contribute to the organization of comfortable logistics.

There is now more and more talk about comprehensive modernization in connection with modern geopolitical realities. This is due to the growing number of members of the "SCO family" and the importance of ensuring its effective operation. And Belarus has its own modernization plan, which we shared. We are for a large Eurasian partnership.

Belarus supports holding events in the "SCO Plus" format, tested within the framework of Kazakhstan's chairmanship, as well as broader involvement of SCO partners in the work.

Next year, the SCO chairmanship will pass to China. The country advocates for an equal multipolar world. And its initiatives "Global Development", "Global Security" and "Global Civilization" have been voiced. And following today's meeting the joint communiqué was signed.
