Blatant hypocrisy: Belarus accuses EU of causing chaos with migrants

Europe demonstrates blatant hypocrisy with regard to migrants. Irresponsible decisions of the European Union have caused chaos in this situation, said a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Belarus. According to Anatoly Glaz, all the long-standing rhetoric of Brussels “about universal European values” was just an illusion for external use. And all the provisions of international law, which relate to refugees, are simply ignored.

Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Department of Information and Digital Diplomacy (spokesman) of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry:

"European leaders know very well that international law and European legislation unambiguously oblige them to treat refugees and asylum seekers humanely. They also know that the chaos on the border has occurred because of their irresponsible decisions to break the border cooperation with neighboring countries. But they lack the political resolve to rectify the situation. In fact, they do not care about the real solution to this problem, or even about the refugees and migrants, whose beaten and maimed bodies are thrown to our side of the border by the dozens".

The day before, EU leaders at a summit in Brussels declared their intention to ensure effective control at external borders. Special measures are expected to be adopted to help the states bordering Belarus and Russia to protect their borders from migration.
