This day in history: 212th anniversary of Napoleon's army crossing the Berezina River
Today is a "cold" day in French history. The unsuccessful crossing of Napoleon's troops across the Berezina River is remembered.
Late November, 1812. Representatives of 11 states participated in the failure campaign against Russia. During three days, from November 26 to 29, Russian troops captured and destroyed about 40 thousand opponents near the village of Studenka. And in principle the remnants of Napoleon's army collapsed.
Since then, "Berezina" is a nominal name. For Europeans it is synonymous with the word "catastrophe". The reconstruction of the battles between the French and Russians reminded us of it this week. And the copy of the panoramic exhibit was presnted in the local museum of local lore. The graphics was created by Polish artists.
