"Friendly Steps" from Western Neighbors: Reinforced Concrete Hedgehogs and Minefields on Border with
Lithuanian Seimas denounces the agreement on customs cooperation with Belarus. The head of the Ministry of Finance stated the advisability of terminating the agreement, since the customs service has not cooperated with the Belarusian side in this area since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, Poland announces the opening of the first fortifications on the border of the Union State within the framework of the "Eastern Shield" and a new NATO base. At the same time, we, for our part, are doing everything to live in harmony with our neighbors: visa-free travel – you are welcome, economic ties - we are all for it, to resolving problematic issues on the border - one call, we will discuss everything. BUT. NO. As they say, there is no change on the Western "front".
Another "friendly" step from Poland. Fortifications have appeared on the border with Belarus and Russia. Concrete hedgehogs, barbed wire, and soon minefields and anti-tank ditches will be added. Their Minister of Defense said that such measures are aimed solely at protecting territories. And no amount of money is spared for this, namely two and a half billion dollars. Given that we do not mine the border with them, do not scatter hedgehogs, do not pull troops together. This is truly “fear has big eyes.”
Warsaw, together with NATO, opened a scientific and laboratory center on its territory
The latest news does not end there. Warsaw, together with NATO military, opened a scientific and laboratory center on its territory, where brothers in arms will test unmanned platforms and various autonomous systems for the needs of the army. All for protection against Iranian missiles...
Why does Warsaw need so many weapons?
The stakes are rising, or rather the GDP. Poland announced that next year it plans to allocate more than 4% of its gross domestic product to defense spending, which is equivalent to 33 billion dollars. Only we would replace the word "defense" with "offensive" spending. Otherwise, it would be impossible to explain why Warsaw needs so many weapons. Another bill has been signed, according to which 730 million dollars will be allocated for the development of the military industry and the production of 155 mm shells.
In addition, the supply of ammunition for air defense systems from American enterprises has begun. Thus, in the near future, Poland will receive more than a thousand guided anti-aircraft missiles and 138 launchers.
The Minister of Defense of Latvia supported the introduction of mandatory conscription of women into the army
News is flying one after another from the Baltics. From the latest. The Minister of Defense of Latvia supported the introduction of mandatory conscription of women into the army. Thus, already in 2028, it is planned to conscript about four thousand representatives of the fair sex.
We can imagine how happy Latvian society was with this news, which, by the way, is shocked by the number of exercises held in the country recently. And it would be fine if the army trained at training grounds. But no. The military is honing its skills right on the streets of cities, which scares civilians. This month alone, about five military exercises have been held in the country. Latvia has become a real testing ground for NATO troops.
Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia - these are far from all the countries involved in the maneuvers. And the UK Ministry of Defense is in charge of everything. By the way, the test site is not sarcasm. Canadian troops are testing armored vehicles at the Baltic tank ranges. As part of the joint exercise, the alliance's troops tested the LTV light tactical vehicles. 90 new units will now strengthen NATO's eastern flank. The generous Canadian Defense Minister has allocated over $35 million to equip his contingent stationed in Riga. I wonder if they are also going to defend themselves from Iranian missiles?
In conclusion, I just want to say: "Dear neighbors, let's live in peace." Belarusians don't need your voivodeships and villages. They don't need your fields and meadows. We have everything of our own. If only we had some hospitable neighbors nearby, life would seem like a song.
