Head of DNR: In 2014, Ukrainian Nazi tried to take away the very essence of our being
In 2014, the Ukrainian Nazi tried to take away our very essence from us. This was stated by the head of the DNR Denis Pushilin in the program “Actual Interview”.
“Imagine, they tried to take away from us at the same time our language, the Russian language, in which we think, in which we speak since childhood, in which we dream,” he explained.
“They tried to take away our historical memory and impose on us some alien perception of the ongoing processes that we know about, not because someone convinced us, but because our grandparents told us about it. They tried to twist and tell us that all the pro-fascist scum, Hitler's accomplices, and participants of inhuman crimes are heroes - Shukhevich, Bandera, and all those who organized the Volyn massacre and Khatyn, began to be heroized,” he said indignantly. - We could not put up with it. As a result of these factors, in 2014 we made the only decision that was right at the time - to defend our interests, no matter what.
The head of the DNR emphasized that for him the attitude to history and everything that concerns the Great Patriotic War is extremely significant. “It has become a kind of litmus test since some time,” he explained.
“After that, everything was viewed through a kind of filter: how a person treats our history, how he or she evaluates 'one's own-another'.” This is probably how it is happening now, and it will continue to do so, the head of the DNR believes.
